Natural soap, that can wash away a headache!

I kinda feel like I wanna eat the name.

Prolly best if I stick to using this as directed - as a soap!

I'm really confused on what appears to be an eyeliner of sorts. The website still calls is a brow product, but why would you want to put purple or blue in your brows for a natural look? I first told you about Tokyo Milk Dark Clove Cigarette Lip Balm back in March of 2012, and their super ah-mazing lip balm.

 

This one is too good not to tell you about - Cherry Burbon No. 77 Conditioning Lip Balm, part of the Dark Femme Fatale line.

 

Made with Bee Balm and Jasmine, and laced with crushed extracts of hydrating Aloe Leaf and Vitamin E, this balm is a true supple seduction.

You really can't beat the price tag for this intricate combination of Cherry Brandy, Whiskey, Aged Wood, and Clove.

 

I'm really hoping they make a candle of this scent.

I also want to experiment and make a drink out of it!

Color inspiration!

One of THE MOST intimidating things to many of my clients, is How to put colors together!!!!!

I have even "shopped" with clients and for clients, to help them maneuver the cosmetics floor... Testing products for quality and putting "color palettes" together!
 

So, I'm looking at Better Homes and Gardens magazine, and as I browse the beautiful DECOR ideas, I noticed how they break down the color choices into "palettes" on the bottom...  (these color blocks look like eye shadow palettes, because they are chosen in the same manner!)
 

 

Beauty magazines don't offer much assistance in picking you color choices, they really only help with PRODUCT choices!

Browse through your Home magazines!

The colors they use in decor are based off the same color wheel!!!!

 Color is color!

If it compliments a room it will compliment your eyes!!!!!
 

Rip out a few pages and take them to the beauty dept. with you!!!!

My name is Elyse Marie, and I am proud to be the In-House photographer for Glam Spot NJ, in addition to owning Elyse Marie Photography (Formerly, Elyse Moniot Studio) I wanted to Blog from the photographers perspective on how to have a successful photoshoot, for YOU, the consumer.

 

As time goes on, you can look forward to tips on posing, clothing, and how to make your pictures the most flattering that they can be.

Before all this though I'm going to start out with a few of the questions that people ask me on a regular basis in order to help give you, an inside look as to how I personally shoot/edit/run things.

 

"Wow, I love your work! How do I book you??"

"So, do I really NEED professional makeup and hair?"

-In my opinion, emphatically yes. You see, You may be very good at doing your own makeup on a daily basis, but daily makeup is VERY different from what translates well in front of a camera with lights. Without a professional guiding you, you're looking at the possibility of dark circles, wonky pores, frizzy hair and a various amount of other skin/shadow issues. Although I Photoshop obvious imperfections, no amount of Photoshop will be able to completely hide said issues (that everyone has!) and look natural. If you're going to get your pictures professionally taken, it only makes sense to go that extra step and use a professional makeup artist, and have your hair styled and coiffed perfectly. Since you're on the Glam Spot NJ blog, I think you've got your makeup artist, and hair covered!

"Ok, So I'm booked for my shoot,  and I have makeup/hair set up. Now what?"

-The first step is setting up a date, Either Heather or myself will call you, and ask you what you want from the shoot, as far as image quantity, shoot style, ect, and we will give you a price from there. We will typically collect a min. of a $50 deposit before the day of shooting, in order to secure your time slot and date. This $50 will go towards the amt. discussed.

When you arrive, the team will begin pampering you, and working with you in order to help give you the makeup/style that you deserve, and desire.

I will sit with you during this time, and get to know you a bit better. I like to talk about what direction you feel like taking the shoot, and how to best suit your needs.

"What should I bring?"

- I typically require my models (and yes, all of you are models!) to bring the following things with them on set: Your I.D, clothing that you feel your most attractive in, and your best smile! If you're shooting boudoir, I'll typically have you produce I.D so I can verify your age, and I have everyone sign a contract with me, outlining that you paid for your pictures, and whether or not I have permission to use the images to promote my business or not.

"How many pictures do I get?"

-This will completely depend an what we have discussed before the shoot, during the booking phase. Typically, I'll shoot anywhere between 250-500 pictures. From there, I narrow it down quite a bit, to about 20 of the very best images. I will do basic color clean ups, and light Photoshopping, and from there, I choose only the best of the best, the PRIME pictures to do heavy Photoshop editing on. I'll give you a disc of the 20 high resolution images, all watermarked (unless previously discussed otherwise), and voila! I know people get antsy about seeing their pictures, so I try to have at least one up on Facebook a few days later, so you can get a peek of what beautiful work we've done together!

The LASH mystery......

Listen I might feel like I deserve 30 "Lashes" for breaking my diet already! LOL

I do have the inside scoop however on "Lashes" of the winking nature!

2013 is the year of the lash! 

With Pops of blue and simple greys adorned on eyes this year, the focus moves to your LASHES!
 

 

Currently I am pretty fancy, with my LASH EXTENSIONS! I love them... No clumping, no fuss, they just look perfect every day upon waking! (Call 201-927-0686 for your appt.)

There is an interesting mascara mystery you must know about! 

Our Glam Girls are "in the know"

The buzz is that this brand "Ethylline WhipLash Lash Detonator Thicksplosion."  "Is the most AMAZING mascara on the market, It finds lashes you didn't know you had...  Your lashes supposedly "explode" like fireworks!"

Try finding it though...

There is a Facebook page with no information on it, that appears to be started by a blogger!

There are numerous "blogs" about the product but they all sound the same...

Like one person wrote a blog, and 30 people plagiarised it! 

No website

No Nothing

Not even an image on GOOGLE!

There are however numerous mascaras in the "exploding" category...

Bell makes a Limited Edition mascara called "Lash explosion"

L'Oreal makes Telescopic Explosion... (the red tube)

 

As a matter of fact I was surrounded by numerous mascaras with similar sounding names at the local beauty supply... 

No "Thickplosion"  to be found! :(

I want to try this Phantom mascara if it exists...

The mystery has me intrigued...

In the meantime, I'll stick to my hasselfree lash extensions! :)

I had to write this Blog...  We say some funny things!

I told the girl that does my Brazilian wax, how I cancelled my Dr.'s appt. because I booked it the same time as my Brazilian!  Listen, I'm not missing that appointment! LOL
 

This morning I open Glam Spot NJ's Facebook page, and I see this quote byBitterstarlite Makeup

"Covered my feet in lotion and sleeping in socks tonight in an attempt to have soft feet! Oh the weird things beauty will make you do ;)"

 

Recently a friend of mine, was going through a bad break up. In the midst of her crying, she paused, while wiping away her tears...

She said, "this MF is gonna give me wrinkles!".

We both laughed...

She added, "I'm gonna have to use serum and eye cream all day tomorrow!!!"

While watching a serious movie, I exclaimed, "wow, how much liner did they pile on that guy?"

Only I would ruin a movie with an eyeliner comment!!!

We steam our pores, exfoliate, and mask our blemishes!

We highlight and contour to go to the grocerie store!

 

My friend (That shall remain nameless, makes sure her gloss is poppin to drop her daughter off at school in the morning)

Stuff we say....

Someone will ask, "What color is on your eyes?"

The smile we make before we answer is the real answer!

"what color don't I have on my eyes?"

It's usually like 6!!!

(Same with lips!)

Never one color, always a combination and always something limited edition and discontinued.

"who lied to her?"

That is what we say to the girl that says "I don't need makeup!"

"I use bar soap to wash my face!!!"

I literally, turn into Chris Rock!!!

I look at you like a Betamax, like, "they still make you?"

"For real though, have you ever thought about your skin?" "Have you ever read one article regarding its well being?" "It's the largest organ of your body!!!"

I digress but, they are all things we say!

"If one more person tells me they can't wear shadow with any shimmer because they are too old, my head might pop off!"

Excuse my eyes rolling... I apologise in advance!

"It's Glitter that looks ridiculous, shimmer is fine depending on where you put it!"

"there are no rules to makeup."

"if someone tells you rules, run screaming in the night!"

"there's a cure for dark circles!" "Really?!!! Your a liar, tell your story walking'"

"a good makeup artist is like a tatoo artist! The cheap ones aren't good, and the good ones ain't cheap!!!"

"I need a good peel!"

"I know a Dr. that does injections for $300!"

"I need a change, so I cut my hair and now I need new lipstick!"

"you have to try this new_______ I found! It's incredible". (fill in the blank)

You look so pretty today! "really? I don't even have any makeup on!"
