The beauty behind "the beauty"

By: Heather Polyi  Owner/Lead Artist Glam Spot NJ

This is Lyra!
She is the reason Glam Spot NJ exists!
I have 2 girls, The older of the two keeps me on my toes with church choir, cheer, and just being 7!!!!

But Lyra, is the reason I could no longer handle a "typical" job within my career.
As we were increasingly coming to the reality that Lyra would need numerous therapies each week, and doctors appointments all over the US, I left my business manager position with an amazing line at the flagship Saks on 5th Ave. they could never allow as many sick days my new life would require!

Funny enough, at that time when I left what I missed most was no longer being right next to St. Patrick's Cathedral where I prayed everyday, sometimes more than once... My pay check was good sized but I missed the church!

I had often talked about opening my own place... Where instead of managing large businesses with the ideas of others, I could truly build my own business with all the varied knowledge I'd collected across my lengthy career!

Then came Glam Spot NJ!
I tell you this ONLY to share the blessing!
Lyra is going through another round of specialized testing and we have gotten some news that well, could be better....  But I wanted to show what she has DONE!

The blessings she brings!

Lyra has brought so many blessings!
(More than I will list for this blogs purpose LOL)

The courage to Just do it!!!
The strength to handle anything!!!
And compassion....
Lyra is pure love!
She has taught me more about the word love than I had learned in my entire life!

I believe, when something is started with love, it can only grow and spread!
Our clients become family!  That is no accident!
You can't just be a great artist or hair pro to work at Glam Spot NJ our people possess something more!!!  The love of volunteering in the community, and compassion.  Attributes that can't be taught!

Our pink hair for hope campaign raised $100 towards a Glam Spot NJ's client and"cancer survivor" walk team!
We embrace community events...

Face-painting at Forrest school, working the "talent show" at Camp Fatima, doing hair and makeup for the kids' performances, sponsoring our local classic car show, providing makeup and hair for Just Cheer's haunted house! Etc...

We treat our public works with the same attention and care as work that has dollars attached to it.

We treat your moments with great care... And love...
A trait you just don't find in business today!

We carry products we believe in, not just to make money....  and always work to surpass your expectation!

I write this today to share this blessing with you!!!
Lyras pure love has blessed me, and now so many others...
At this time of year when magic is in the air...
Walk with a little extra love,

With Love and Glamour,

Vibrating Beauty!

By Heather Polyi, with research by Bridget Hudzik, Glam Spot NJ's Beauty Guru!

There are plenty of jokes I could make but I will refrain, as much of the world is hooked on these VIBRATING crèmes!

We have seen vibrating Mascara wands, hand-held face washing tools, and now a "buffer".

Japanese and Korean products currently utilize this type of tool with their BB and CC creams, but it hasn't become the rage in the US yet.

Currently vibrating beauty, is appearing State side as a "buffer"...
(AHEM... excuse me I cleared my throat...)

The UK based brand pop beauty introduces the Buzzing Beauty Buffer.
This tool allows you to blend whatever you want into your skin.
(insert joke here... LOL)

liquid, cream, mousse or powder blend perfectly onto your skin while de-puffing and improving circulation. It is specifically designed to be used with POP’s CC Cream, but it's uses are numerous.

The kit includes an auto vibrating applicator with anti-bacterial sponge, lithium battery, and a refill sponge.

Using the buffer is quite easy - simply dip the sponge into you favorite formula, (or apply the makeup directly onto your face first) next, press the button to activate the buffer, then follow the included face chart, showing you the correct circular motion, to massage cosmetics onto your skin.
Don't forget, to make sure to turn off, and replace the cap after each use.

*Of course it's easy to clean, simply twist the base of sponge to remove it and wash with a mild shampoo and warm water. (note: use baby shampoo or baby wash.)

POP Beauty is sold in Ulta stores throughout the USA
Let us know if you try this new "vibrating" beauty tool!

Get your Beauty Sleep!

By Bridget Hudzik, Beauty Guru

Honestly this needed to be posted today because Beauty sleep is a MUST!!!!!!

AND I DON'T GET ANY!!!!!!

I can conceal, and shellac over dark circles... BUT, It's more then that!
It's like my skin is JUST BLAAAAHHHHHHH!

"Beauty Sleep" is more than just an expression: it's science.

A study published in BMJ (Brittish Medical Journal) said;
"Our findings show that sleep-deprived people appear less healthy, less attractive and more tired compared with when they are well rested," wrote the researchers. "This suggests that humans are sensitive to sleep-related facial cues."

While the long-term effects of poor sleep on overall health have been widely researched, this is the first study to provide evidence that in the short term, sleep deprivation does in fact show up as a discernible change in facial appearance.

WOW!
I'm in trouble....

So, because I sometimes have trouble falling asleep and I don't want to feel awful the next morning from a sleep aid, I am always on the hunt for a "natural" approach!

Le Couvent des Minimes has something for those who also need their beauty sleep!

Good Night Pillow Mist contains lavender and acacia to help relax and unwind after a busy day. The Original Recipe combines relaxing and purifying essential oils of Lavender and Mandarin for relaxing, Ravensara for soothing, and tea tree for purifying, to help produce serotonin, which in turn helps the body fall asleep.

The encouraged reparative sleep lends to a calm and rested mind upon waking. There are lots more relaxing recipes with Lavender and Acacia on their website. Read the story of the Minim Brothers and how it all started in 1613. Bonus - they donate a percentage of their annual sales to the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary charity.

So go forth and get some much needed "Beauty Sleep"

The "Beauty" of a photo shoot!

By; Heather Polyi  Owner/Lead Artist  Glam Spot NJ

The beauty behind the photo shoot!
First, Ashley the model is exquisite!

Factor in the conditions your shooting in and " the look " of the fashions...
We were working with a designer and knew the clothes in advance.
Ashley, had pink nails...  So I coordinated her lip with her nails!

This is my set up, sangria and all!
Ashley spoils me!

To start I curled her head in sections...

Then pulled it up in a sophisticated way...
The clothing was conducive to this look...
And it was an outdoor shoot in 100 degrees!

Dark along her lids and lighter as it goes up with colors to make her eyes look "greener"

Here is the results!
